The calculator runs locally
The FIRE, CGT and rent-versus-buy calculators and retirement simulations run in your browser. Planning inputs are not submitted to an AussieFirePack account or database.
Browser storage
The FIRE, CGT and rent-versus-buy calculators use local storage so your latest inputs remain available on the same browser and device. This data stays under that browser profile. CGT stores your investment amount, growth, dividend, inflation, tax and projection assumptions. Its Reset defaults action replaces those saved inputs with the defaults. Rent-versus-buy Reset removes its saved scenario and restores the example. Clearing site data or browser storage removes stored scenarios.
Sharing a plan
A shared link contains your balances, spending, assumptions, and cash-flow descriptions. Anyone with the link can read them. The data is encoded, not encrypted; share only with people you trust.
Rent-versus-buy links include your home price, savings, rent, loan, costs, tax, growth and home-buyer super assumptions, comparison length and dollar-display setting. Copy for Reddit copies a result, assumptions and link to your clipboard for you to post manually. It does not send a post to Reddit.
New links keep the plan after the # in the address, which browsers do not send in the server request or referrer. The full link can still remain in browser history, synced history, or messages. Older links using ?plan= can also appear in hosting request logs. Importing a link removes the plan from the current address, but cannot remove copies already stored elsewhere.
Market-data requests
The optional historical-analogue feature requests SPY and AGG history from Financial Modeling Prep through the site server. Those requests do not include your FIRE calculator balances or spending inputs.
Accounts, analytics, and cookies
The current site has no account system and does not set advertising or analytics cookies. The hosting provider may still process standard request information such as IP address, browser information, requested URL, and timestamp for security and operations under its own policies.
